“Only the Forgotten is New” tells the story of Klaus, who, 80 years after World War II, is finally ready to confront his past. Marked by the horrors of war and the violence of his Nazi father, he writes a letter addressing trauma, abuse, and the experiences that shaped his life.

The film started as a personal project about my grandfather’s unique trauma as the son of a Nazi. Forgetting is the first step to repeating mistakes—that’s why we must learn from the traumas of past generations.
